Why I Chose to Travel Solo

By Amber | En Route Luxe Lifestyle

There’s a certain magic that happens when you pack your bags, book a flight, and set out into the world—alone. It’s not just about the destination or the aesthetics (though I do love a great oceanfront suite and dreamy sunrise). Traveling solo is a conscious decision I made to reconnect with myself, rediscover freedom, and design the kind of life I once only dreamed about.

The Freedom to Choose My Own Adventure
One of the most beautiful things about traveling solo is the freedom it gives you. I wake up when I want, choose the places I feel drawn to, and create my own rhythm for the day. Whether that’s sipping espresso at a local café in Paris, indulging in a spa day in Bali, or spontaneously hopping on a train to a new city—I’m in charge of my time and energy.

Traveling solo has taught me to listen to my intuition, honor my needs, and be more present. I no longer feel the pressure to fit someone else’s itinerary or compromise on what lights me up.

Stepping Into My Power
Solo travel didn’t just broaden my horizons—it empowered me. I’ve learned how to navigate foreign airports, find hidden gems off the beaten path, and solve unexpected travel hiccups with grace. Every solo trip is a reminder that I am capable, resilient, and resourceful.

There’s something deeply affirming about being alone in a new country and still feeling at home within yourself.

Intentional Luxury & Self-Care
For me, travel is also a form of self-love. I choose experiences that feel nourishing—luxury accommodations, wellness retreats, fine dining, and soulful exploration. This isn’t about being extravagant for the sake of it; it’s about intentionally creating space for beauty, healing, and pleasure.

Through En Route Luxe Lifestyle, I share glimpses of this journey because I want other women to know: you don’t have to wait for someone to join you. Your passport and your purpose are enough.

Deep Connections—With People & Places
You’d be surprised how many genuine connections happen when you travel solo. Locals are more open, fellow travelers are curious, and conversations often run deeper than the surface. These are the moments that stay with me—the kind that no perfectly posed photo could ever capture.

Traveling alone has allowed me to connect more deeply with the world and, ultimately, with myself.

Final Thoughts
Choosing to travel solo wasn’t just a travel decision—it was a life decision. It’s about reclaiming my time, investing in my joy, and showing up fully for this one beautiful life. And if my story inspires just one woman to take that first solo trip, then it’s all been worth it.

Here’s to the freedom to roam, the luxury of solitude, and the endless journey of self-discovery.
